There are two scriptures that are the focus of my recent release, Selling My Soul. Genesis 50:20 says, But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

In my writing, I try to share life lessons I’ve learned and these are two big ones. We learn our greatest lessons from the most difficult things we experience. If we go through our trials well, they’re instrumental in making us strong and resilient and draw us into deeper intimacy with God. I had a relatively good childhood – raised by great parents in a good Christian home. Later in life though, I made some decisions that impacted me badly. I found myself in a horrible marriage, at the brink of bankruptcy because of a corrupt business partner and miserably stuck in a career I didn’t enjoy. Those were some difficult depressing days, but l learned during that time to press in to my relationship with God and allow His strength to carry me through. I learned how to cry and worship at the same time. I learned how to trust Him, no matter how bad things looked. And I learned that eventually, if kept my eyes focused on Him, everything would work out.

No matter how bad things get or what happens, God rules and is completely in control. Not only that, He loves us and wants what’s best for us. It gives me great strength to know that no matter what I’m faced with, God can make it work out for good. Joseph experienced great betrayal by his brothers, but in the end, he could say that no matter what his brothers meant for evil that God could turn it around for good. All things worked together in His life. I’ve learned the same thing and have found that my greatest trials have turned into my greatest triumphs. And best yet, I have a deep intimate relationship with God that was worth all the pain.

Trina Michaels, the main character in Selling My Soul goes through some serious trials when she comes home from a two year missions trip in Africa. She returns to find that her mother has terminal cancer and has been given months to live. Her sister hasn’t kept up with her mortgage payments so she’s in danger of losing her house. And the only job she can find is representing the Bishop of a mega-church involved in a sex scandal. In doing this, she risks losing her best friend and the man she loves. Trina has to decide whether to sell her soul or believe in God’s faithfulness. In the end, her faith allows her to see that all things work out for her good.

About the Book

When Trina Michaels steps off the plane after her two-year missions trip in Africa, she realizes that other than longing to see her mother and her best friend, her heart aches to fly back to the place that now feels more like home than anywhere she’s… ever lived. And to the man who’s stolen her heart.

Her dream of a quick return to Mozambique fades within hours when Trina discovers that her mother has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Trina is forced to go back to her job as a publicist to cover her mother’s health costs.

She’s assigned a damage control client, Bishop Walker, a megachurch pastor accused of covering up a church sex scandal within his church involving the molestation of young boys. Representing him could cost Trina her most valued friendship, the love of her life, and her soul.
